Every great place has a great story and Dunedin Leisure Lodge is no exception.

Established in 1978 on the site of one of Dunedin’s original and at one time, New Zealand’s largest breweries, Dunedin Leisure Lodge is uniquely located in a park like setting that preserves some of the early history of the site.  The last beer was brewed on-site in 1958 and all brewery operations had been relocated to the Speight’s Brewery by 1971.  The solid stone Oast House (it was a malting kiln) has been preserved and converted into a conference room in recognition of the sites important history. The McGavin conference room carries the original brewery name.

The hotel was designed by Warren & Mahoney of Christchurch, some of the stonework from the original brewery buildings was used in the Foyer and the aptly named McGavin Room.

The hotel has received many upgrades and refurbishments over the years and the gardens continue to develop and mature.  We might have some history but there is nothing old about Dunedin Leisure Lodge.

Dunedin Leisure Lodge is one of the Skyline Enterprises group of companies.  Skyline is New Zealand’s leading tourism operator with icon Gondola businesses in Queenstown and Rotorua as well as a range of tourism activities in New Zealand, Singapore, Korea and Canada.  Find out more about the Skyline group here.
